DEVELOPMENT

The mission of HomeAid is to build and maintain dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives. To accomplish this mission, HomeAid partners with non-profits who provide housing for the homeless and members of the building industry who provide materials and skilled labor. HomeAid continues to delivery on important projects in the community.

Current Housing Development Projects:

LAS VEGAS CATHOLIC WORKER – JUNE

The mission of LVCW is to provide compassionate and quality services to the poor and homeless. For more than 20 years, they have served breakfast to 150 people four times per week, provided housing for 6 people working toward self-sufficiency, and distributed 30 boxes of food to low-income seniors and families every Saturday.

This project includes painting and patching the exterior of their home facility (the Christensen home built in 1933 on Van Buren and E Streets), cleaning-up the landscape, and providing 6 brand new twin mattress sets donated by 1800Mattress.

Project Value: $6,000.


FAMILY PROMISE – JULY

The mission of Family Promise is to assist families transitioning from homelessness to stability and independence through compassionate shelter, guidance and education.

Families in transition need a sense of security. This project provides sturdy new cabinets for clients to store their personal belongings, a working counter for families to complete job applications, resume‘ writing, and homework, and a new Energy Star refrigerator donated by Toll Brothers.

Project Value: $11,000.


WESTCARE – OCTOBER

The mission of WestCare is to provide services to at-risk and throwaway youth.

Their facility is in need of a more homelike and comfortable setting for these broken youth. This project will provide new bedding and dressers for 18 youth bedrooms and interior paint to brighten up the bedrooms, counseling areas, and hallways.

Project Value: $10,000.


WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT CENTER – NOVEMBER

140 new twin mattresses donated by 1800Mattress will provide a comfortable and clean living environment for homeless women and children. In addition, WDC will enjoy Energy Star appliances (2 each: dishwasher, washer/dryer, refrigerator, microwave, range & hood) donated by Toll Brothers.

Depending upon financial availability, roof repair, retrofitting of stairs, paint and flooring are also being considered for the 5 apartment buildings.

Project Value: $90,000.
