Mission of Agency:

Founded in 1998, the Family to Family Connection program builds upon the strengths of children, families, and communities to support the child within the family and the family within the neighborhood. The program was developed by Sandy Miller, former First Lady of Nevada, as a means to help build families in our state by providing services focusing on strengthening attachment, maximizing brain development and promoting breastfeeding. This statewide effort created a comprehensive network that encourages optimal child growth and development through community-based public and private partnerships.

Currently, Family to Family Connection serves families with children from birth to age five and empowers parents and caretakers with the tools to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children through parent education and community networking. Our program provides educational and emotional support that empowers parents and helps them become the best parents they can be. The end result is healthy, confident children leading to a stronger community.

Project Details:

For this project, we added built-in adjustable shelving to their main classroom to provide additional storage as well as pull-down shades donated and installed by Sunburst Shutters to hide the toys from the children when not in use. Additionally, we assembled and installed two craft cabinets to store arts and crafts supplies as well as a whiteboard to facilitate interactive learning.

In the sink area, we replaced the existing sink and sinking countertop while reinforcing the countertop to avoid future sinking.

We then turned our attention to the Big Kid room. Here, we gave the walls a fresh coat of paint, mounted another whiteboard, and have plans to hang additional shelving, a task that is underway and will be completed shortly. Sunburst Shutters also donated and installed new blinds for the two windows in this room.

Our focus then moved to the Main Room, where we applied a fresh coat of paint to all walls while the Family 2 Family Connection staff made quick work of reimaging the space to be more functional for their clients.
